     There are several different protocols required for generating
     optimal function call sequences under Windows.
 
     User Code
 
     User functions are any functions that belong solely to your
     application; they are not in a dynamic-link library (DLL). Under
     Windows, there are two methods for invoking user functions: direct
     function calls and Windows call-backs. All window procedures are
     call-backs, as are most timer functions.
