     Hollerith illegal with CHARACTER in relationals
 
     Hollerith constants cannot be mixed with character variables
     or constants in relational equations. For example, if 3HYES
     is a Hollerith constant and STR is a CHARACTER*N variable,
     then the line
 
          IF 3HYES .LT. STR THEN           ! Error!
 
     is illegal.
 
     Replace the Hollerith with a CHARACTER literal ('YES' in the
     example above).
