     When arithmetic, character, relational, and logical operators appear
     in the same expression, precedence is as follows:
 
          ■ Arithmetic operators have the highest precedence.
 
          ■ Character operators are evaluated next.
 
          ■ Relational operators are evaluated next.
 
          ■ Logical operators have the lowest precedence.
