     sense
 
     The meaning or state of a variable, bit, or condition. Usually
     used for items that have two states.
 
     Examples
 
     "The xyz function tests the sense of the abc switch."
 
     The sense of a bit is on or off (also: set or cleared).
 
     The sense of a letter is uppercase or lowercase.
 
     The sense of a toggle is on or off.
 
     The sense of a Boolean switch is yes or no.
