◄Summary► ◄Notes► ◄Back► ────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────── Extended memory is memory at addresses above 1 MB, which can only be accessed by an 80286 or 80386 CPU running in protected mode. Because MS-DOS is a real-mode operating system, extended memory can be used for storage of volatile data but cannot be used for execution of programs. Programs and drivers that use this function cannot be executed in the Compatibility Environment of OS/2. This function is not supported on the PS/2 Models 25 and 30. -♦-
