UTILITIES SORT
Procedures: <Sorting paragraphs and tables>
Use the Utilities Sort command to rearrange text
alphabetically or numerically.
■ You can use Sort to reorganize the following:
* Paragraphs in documents.
* Lines in columns and tables.
* Records in data documents.
* Headings in an outline.
■ If text is a combination of letters, numbers,
and special characters, Word sorts according
to the following rules:
* Lines or paragraphs beginning with punctuation
marks precede all others, followed by those
beginning with numbers, followed by those
beginning with letters.
* Uppercase letters precede lowercase if Case
Sensitive is turned on; otherwise, Word
ignores capitalization.
■ To undo a sort, choose Edit Undo (Alt,E,U).
■ To avoid possible memory problems when sorting
large documents, save your document before you
use the Sort command.
