UTILITIES SORT

Procedures: <Sorting paragraphs and tables>

Use the Utilities Sort command to rearrange text
alphabetically or numerically.

■ You can use Sort to reorganize the following:
  * Paragraphs in documents.
  * Lines in columns and tables.
  * Records in data documents.
  * Headings in an outline.

■ If text is a combination of letters, numbers,
  and special characters, Word sorts according
  to the following rules:
  * Lines or paragraphs beginning with punctuation
    marks precede all others, followed by those
    beginning with numbers, followed by those
    beginning with letters.
  * Uppercase letters precede lowercase if Case
    Sensitive is turned on; otherwise, Word
    ignores capitalization.

■ To undo a sort, choose Edit Undo (Alt,E,U).

■ To avoid possible memory problems when sorting
  large documents, save your document before you
  use the Sort command.
