FORMAT ATTACH STYLE SHEET
Procedures: <Attaching or detaching a style sheet>
Use the Format Attach Style Sheet command to
attach or detach a specified <style sheet>.
■ Word attaches the <default> style sheet,
NORMAL.STY, to new documents. This style
sheet determines the default styles until
you revise NORMAL.STY or attach a different
style sheet.
■ The name of the style sheet that is attached
to a document displays in the Style Sheet Name
box when you choose the Format Attach Style
Sheet command.
■ Once you have attached a style sheet to your
document, you can use the Format Apply Style
command, <key codes>, or the Style box on the
<ribbon> to apply styles.
■ You can still apply formatting with the Format
commands and the <speed formatting keys> when a
style sheet is attached. This type of manual
formatting overrides any applied styles.
■ To detach a style sheet and convert the
document to <direct formatting>, choose the
Format Attach Style Sheet command and select
the Detach option.
■ A style sheet that you attach replaces the
current style sheet. You do not have to detach
a style sheet before you attach another.
