                               About Cursors

This topic describes the functions that allow you to use cursors in your
applications.

A cursor is a rectangle that can be shown at any location in a window. It is
usually used to mark a text-insertion point or to indicate when a control
window has the keyboard focus. For example, entry-field controls use a
flashing vertical bar to show the insertion point when the control has the
keyboard focus. A button control, on the other hand, appears as a halftone
rectangle the size of the button when the button has the keyboard focus. MS
OS/2 draws and flashes the cursor, freeing the application from handling
these details. Note that the cursor has no direct relationship with the
mouse pointer.
