The pages on this site contain documentation for very old MS-DOS software, purely for historical purposes. If you're looking for up-to-date documentation, particularly for programming, you should not rely on the information found here, as it will be woefully out of date.

INSERT FOOTNOTE

Procedures: <Using footnotes>

Use the Insert Footnote command to insert a
footnote reference mark at the cursor and move it
to the end of the document for typing footnote
text. If the document is in Show Layout mode or
the footnote pane is already open, the cursor
moves to the footnote pane.

Footnotes print on the same page as the
corresponding reference marks, unless you
indicate otherwise with the Format Section
command. Footnotes are numbered automatically and
renumbered when you delete or move them.

■ Create an automatic style for footnotes before
you type them. All footnotes print with the
  style you specify.

■ The default format for footnote reference marks
is normal character format. To change to a
smaller font size, use the Format Character
command, or modify and use the automatic
  character style Footnote Reference.

■ Choose View Footnotes/Annotations to see the
text of footnotes in a pane.
