INDENTING A PARAGRAPH

Overview: <Format Paragraph command>

To indent a paragraph:

Using the keyboard:
1. Select the paragraph(s) you want to indent, or
select the entire document by pressing Ctrl+5
   (on the numeric keypad).
2. Choose Format Paragraph (Alt,T,P).
3. Under Indents, type a measurement for the
indent you want to change. For example, to
indent the first line of the paragraph by 0.25
inches, type 0.25 in the First Line box.
Include the unit abbreviation if you want a
measurement other than inches. Example: 0.8 cm.
4. Choose OK.

Note: In Word, indents are measured from the left
      and right margins.

Using the mouse:
1. Select the paragraph(s) you want to indent, or
select the entire document by pointing to the
<selection bar>, holding down Ctrl, and
   clicking the left mouse button.
2. If the ruler is not already on, click the
   ruler icon (┴).
3. Point to the symbol for the indent you want to
   change, as follows:
   Symbol: Type of indent:
     [ Left indent
     ] Right indent
     | First-line indent
4. Hold down the right mouse button while you
drag the indent symbol to the new setting.

Note: You may have to drag the left indent symbol
to the right to see the first-line indent
symbol, and then reposition the left indent
      after positioning the first-line indent.
