CREATING A USER DICTIONARY
Overview: <Utilities Spelling command>
Word uses a default user dictionary named
SPECIALS.CMP.
To create a new user dictionary:
1. Choose Utilities Spelling (Alt,U,S).
2. When Word presents an unknown word, choose the
Options button.
3. In the User Dictionary box, type a name (up to
eight characters) for the new user dictionary.
4. Choose OK.
Word adds the .CMP extension to the name.
5. When Word prompts you to confirm that you want
to create a new user dictionary, choose OK.
Note: You must select User from the Add To
Dictionary list box to add word(s) to a user
dictionary. This dictionary remains in use
until you specify a new user dictionary or
until you change to a standard or document
dictionary.
