CREATING SIDE-BY-SIDE PARAGRAPHS
Overview: <Format Paragraph command>
Word provides a <style sheet>, SIDEBY.STY, that
includes five default <styles> to help you set
up <side-by-side paragraphs>.
To create two side-by-side paragraphs using the
SIDEBY.STY style sheet:
1. Choose Format Attach Style Sheet (Ctrl,T,A).
2. In the Attach Style Sheet dialog box, select
the SIDEBY.STY style sheet from the Files
list.
Note: You may have to change directories or
insert a Utilities disk to select
SIDEBY.STY.
3. Choose OK.
4. Choose View Layout (Ctrl,V,L).
This provides a view of the paragraphs as
they will appear when printed.
5. Type the paragraph you want on the left.
6. Press Ctrl+Shift+2,L to apply the left-side
paragraph style.
7. Type the paragraph you want on the right.
8. Press Ctrl+Shift+2,R to apply the right-side
paragraph style.
To create three side-by-side paragraphs using
the SIDEBY.STY style sheet:
■ Use the same steps as above, except use
Ctrl+Shift+3,L, Ctrl+Shift+3,C, and
Ctrl+Shift+3,R for the left, center, and right
paragraphs.
Note: If the spacing and/or formatting in the
side-by-side styles in SIDEBY.STY do not
fit your purposes, you can edit the styles
in the style sheet window. Use the Format
Define Styles command to edit a style.
